Elderly woman left in critical state following collision with Land Rover

An elderly pensioner has been left in a severe condition after being struck by a Land Rover.

The 89-year-old woman was crossing Hatherlow (A627) in Stockport, near the junction with Overdale Road, when she was struck.

The pensioner, from Bredbury Green, suffered several injuries including to her face and ribs.

She was taken to hospital where police say she is in a critical, but stable, condition.

The Land Rover Discovery was being driven by a 45-year-old woman from Marple when the crash happened.

No-one else was hurt.
