Fire crews cut man out of car after M60 crash

A man was cut from his luxury vehicle and taken to hospital after being involved in a motorway smash.

The driver, believed to be in his 60s, collided with a lorry on the M60 near junction 25 for Bredbury, before hitting the central reservation on the anti-clockwise side of the carriageway.

Firefighters from the nearby Whitehill and Hyde stations were called to the scene, as well as a specialist rescue unit from Ashton.

It took crews over an hour to carefully cut away the roof of the car before taking the man out on a spine board.

He was taken to Tameside Hospital but suffered only minor injuries, while the driver of the HGV was left unharmed.

Police shut the anti-clockwise side of the motorway, opening the inside lane again after 30 minutes and the M60 was fully reopened a further hour later.
