Four-car-pile-up on M66 leaves motorists facing serious delays

A four-car-pile-up on the M56 left motorists facing serious delays around Bury junction this morning.

Although no-one was hurt following the smash near junction two at Heywood on the outside lane of the motorway, severe delays left the motorway at a standstill.

Traffic ground to a halt on the southbound carriageway, with traffic queuing as far back as Ramsbottom.

The Highways Agency closed the outside lane while the damaged cars were removed.

A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: "No-one was hurt during the incident."

Claims if you have been involved in a motorway collision

Traffic collisions involving multiple vehicles can be very serious, even more so if you are travelling at speed on a busy motorway, so if you believe that you have been affected by this you could be entitled to make a claim for compensation. It is important that whenever you make a claim that you are able to prove that another person is at fault for your injuries, because otherwise you will find that your chances of success will diminish in a court of law.

Being involved in a motorway accident can be a very painful and traumatic experience, and as such you could be left hospitalised – which in itself can have severe financial repercussions. It is for this reason that making a claim could be in your best interests, because the implications could have a major impact on your life far after the incident occurred.
