As the winter snow gets a grip on the UK for a second day, the amount of injuries caused by slipping on ice and snow has rocketed. Accident and Emergency departments in hospitals throughout Great Britain have initiated emergency protocols to cope with the added influx of snow related injuries. The Met Office has issued more advanced severe weather warnings, ranging from Rain in the South East to more heavy snow showers across the Pennines and the North of England. Expect 10 to 20 centimetres of fresh snow. As temperatures plummet added care needs to be taken as roads and pavements freeze.

The met office has predicted heavy snow in Northern Ireland, Northern England and parts of Wales by Monday the 5th of February 2009 and leading into Tuesday the 6th of February 2009. It is expected that the snow will accumulate in places which may cause disruption. Care must be taken on areas with higher ground. This may lead to slips, trips or falls.
