Before going on tour, all members of the defence force are required to undergo a great deal of training and in addition must be provided with the correct safety equipment and preparations for anything that could happen in the field. If you have been injured working for the MOD through negligence on behalf of your employer then you could be eligible for a compensation claim. 

Where might I be able to make a claim?

When it comes to working for the MOD there are many situations where you may be eligible to make a compensation claim, some of the most common include:

  • Incorrect training – If you haven’t been given the appropriate levels of training you could find yourself in real trouble out in the field, this could lead to you incurring potentially serious injuries or even result in death
  • Lack of safety equipment – Working in the defence forces you are required to be equipped with some of the most sophisticated safety equipment available, if you are not given the correct equipment, or you are given faulty equipment then you could be eligible to make a compensation claim
  • Negligence of a driver/pilot – If you are in a convoy or on a plane that has crashed as the result of a negligent person behind the controls, you could be eligible to make a claim 
  • Incorrect intelligence – If you have been given incorrect intelligence which has led you directly into a dangerous situation and you are injured as a result 
  • Friendly fire – If you are injured from a weapon released by a member of your own group or platoon.

  • Wounds from shrapnel and glass including lacerations and cuts
  • Loss of limbs and other body parts including eyes and ears
  • Potential brain damage and head and neck injuries
