Compensation for a Spiral Fracture at Work

Fractures in the workplace are not uncommon right around the UK and for many people they are perhaps one of the most common sources of a compensation claim. Depending on the type of accident that you are involved in and the type of impact that you sustain you could be left with a fairly serious fracture as the result of an accident in the workplace and if you do sustain a spiral fracture then there could be a long period of rest and rehabilitation ahead.

Spiral fractures are not uncommon but they can be difficult to treat and in many situations require a great deal of recuperation time. Accordingly, if you do find yourself in a situation where you have to take an extended period of time off work due to a spiral fracture then you could be eligible to make a claim.

What is a Spiral Fracture?

A spiral fracture generally occurs when a bone has been twisted and the increased pressure has caused it to fracture or split in a number of places in a spiral motion. Spiral fractures can often be quite complicated and difficult to fix as the break can go right the way across the bone and is not a simple split such as you would find in a transverse fracture.

Where in the workplace could I sustain a Spiral Fracture?

Injuries can occur almost anywhere in the workplace but some of the most common areas where you could potentially sustain a spiral fracture include:

  • Injuries sustained on the production line
  • Injuries sustained on a building site
  • Injuries sustained after falling down stairs
  • Injuries sustained from trips and slips
  • Injuries sustained after a fall from height.
