Compensation for bed sores from a care home

Unfortunately for many people there comes a time in life where they are no longer able to take care of themselves, or simply become too old to give themselves adequate support and care. When this time comes it's not unusual for a person to be admitted to a care home or other area where they can receive the care and attention that they need to deal with their own health and well-being and any potential problems which might arise.

When you do go to a care home you expect to receive the best possible treatment available, but unfortunately this is not always the case. If you feel that you have been the victim of negligence within a care home, you could look to make a compensation claim to cover any costs you have incurred.

What are bed sores and how do they develop?

Bed sores are a common term for injuries which develop after a person has been left unattended in one position for a long period of time. This usually occurs when a person is left in bed - often recovering from an injury - and isn't turned or moved as they should be. Bed sores are usually more prevalent among the elderly and although they may only start off as a rash or simple sore, they do have the potential to spread and become much larger, and even become infected if the situation arises.

In which situations might I be likely to make a compensation claim?

There are a number of situations where you may consider making a compensation claim for bed sores and these include:

  • Claims for failure of a care home
  • Claims for negligence of a care workers
  • Claims for improper bedding conditions
  • Claims for poor hygiene in a care home
  • Claims for abuse of care home clients.
