Droylesdon boy savaged by dog

A 12-year-old boy had to be rescued by a neighbour after suffering serious injuries caused by a vicious dog attack.

Local neighbour Stewart McGuinness came out to defend the boy when he heard his cries for help, fighting off the dog with a metal tube from his vacuum cleaner.

Louis Currie, 12, was on his way to a friend’s house when the dog sprang from a garden he was walking past and took a large chunk out of his leg.

The boy also suffered from injuries to his teeth, arms and face as a result of the attack.

Other neighbours helped the boy to safety and called the local ambulance service who took him to nearby St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester.

The boy has been left with lifelong scars and may need plastic surgery to fix his injuries.

The attack occurred around 2pm on Sunday and police are currently investigating the attack. The dog has been captured and no arrests have currently been made.

By law it’s the responsibility of any pet owner to ensure that their pet is well-trained and that they are restrained where need be.
