M6 Northbound closed after tanker spillage

The M6 and M61 motorways were at a standstill for over an hour while emergency crews cleaned up the mess left by the tanker.

Around 15 tonnes of flammable liquid was spilt across the motorway at junction 31 covering four carriageways across the major motorway.

There were no major injuries but the tanker’s driver was taken to hospital as a precaution after inhaling dangerous fumes.

All four lanes of the motorway were closed while the clean-up operation was in place.

Personal injury claims against road hazards

When it comes to travelling on the roads although one of the most common hazards is other drivers, there are many other problems that we can come across. Tankers are an incredibly important part of our transportation network and when they are operated safely they provide a great method of transport for a number of materials.

Unfortunately from time to time tanker drivers can be negligent and as a result the goods that they are carrying can be spilt across the road. In this situation it can be potentially hazardous to any drivers that may be travelling in a close vicinity. These drivers may be caused to swerve around the spillage and could therefore be involved in an accident. Alternately, drivers could run into the spillage and this could cause them to lose control of their vehicles and be involved in an accident.

If you involved in either of these situations and injured as a result then you could be eligible to make a compensation claim.
