Mobility scooter crash leaves man fighting for his life

A crash involving a car and a mobility scooter rider has left a man critically ill and fighting for his life.

Serious head and leg injuries were suffered by the 64-year-old rider during the crash which occurred at around 6:30pm on Sunday.

The accident happened at the junction of Crowthorn Road and Manchester road in Ashton-under-Lyne.

The driver of the other vehicle – a Vauxhall Astra Estate – was left uninjured.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have more information about the accident to come forward.
