Pensioner Receives Head Injuries in Brutal Attack

A gang of yobs used a “for sale” sign to knock a pensioner unconscious in a brutal attack on Saturday.

The attack, which left the pensioner with a serious skull fracture, occurred at the junction of Manchester and Sinderlands Rd, Altrincham at around 1am.

A gang of seven men set upon the pensioner in the early hours of Saturday morning, grabbing the “for sale” sign from a local housing estate and using it to attack the man. The man was beaten as he lay on the floor after being hit over the head with the “for sale” sign. The victim was left with several injuries including a broken nose and fractured skull.

The attackers described as between the ages of 18-25 and white quickly fled to the nearby Broadheath Estate.

Trafford CID Detective Constable Paul Yates condemned the attack as “vicious, cowardly and unprovoked” and said the man was still suffering a great deal of trauma from the experience.

"I would urge anyone who may have seen the attack happen or may have heard someone bragging about the incident to contact us as soon as possible,” he said.
