Winter weather causing havoc on Manchester roads

Winter has come early for many Manchester motorists as commuters were once again faced with long delays and tough driving conditions in the region.

The amount of snow caused the complete closure of many roads in and around the city, in addition to delays on the M66 motorway.

Heavy rain throughout the night and rapidly dropping temperatures led to icy conditions which made for hazardous driving conditions.

Manchester Airport also fell victim to the poor weather conditions as planes failed to land after being subjected to tough conditions.

Traffic stood still on the M66 northbound at Ramsbottom for nearly an hour after a multi-vehicle pile-up and the M62 was also brought to a halt from poor weather conditions.

Motorists on the M6 and M60 also suffered from long delays.

Accidents caused by poor weather conditions

With the weather conditions that we face right across the UK it’s not hard to see why cold, wet and icy conditions create so much of a problem. Ice is a major problem on roads right around the UK, especially black ice, and it’s the responsibility of the road authorities and local councils to ensure that our roads are kept as safe as possible and that we are able to continue to drive safely throughout these conditions.

Unfortunately this is not always the case and if you feel that you have been the victim of poor weather conditions and that your accident has been caused through either the fault of another driver who has been driving recklessly, or the fault of the authority for not taking the appropriate action to clear the roads, you could look to make a claim for compensation.

What can I do next?
